My book vs. movie comparison this week is Call of the Wild by Jack London. Although there are many differences between the book and the movie the basics are the same. There is a dog who lives in a fancy place where it’s all nice and sunshiney, who gets kidnapped and shipped off to the cold, hard Yukon. He becomes a sled dog and eventually builds up to the top position. Along the trail he and his team get sold off to some cruel people and he is saved by a man. They go on a trip and Buck starts to feel this call that’s pulling him into the forest. On the trip the man gets killed and Buck finally gives into the call.
Some of the differences between the book and the movie is in the book, Buck is a bit more mischievous. Also, in the book there is more death. The movie was made to be kid friendly, and some of the details of the book are edited out to fit into the time frame of the movie. But of course, I think the book and the movie are both good though you can form your own opinions.
