– This year we are in eighth grade playing volleyball for the middle school. There are 9 girls playing volleyball from our school. Me, Leah, Cecilia, Avery, Lorisa, AJ, Elaine, Caroline, and Audrey. All together there are 17 of us. My position is sometimes setter and mostly right side. You can start playing for the middle school in 7th grade which is when we started. In 2nd grade is when I started playing volleyball. In 5th grade I started playing club volleyball for the Matrix team. We have won 6 games and lost 1. We were on a winning streak of 5 until we played this really tall team and lost 25 to 13 the first set and 25 to 9 the second set. A set is a half of one game, so each game you play two sets and if each team wins one set then you move onto a 3rd set. We have one all of our sets except for 3 which isn’t that bad. We have an 8th grade tournament and a 7th grade tournament. This team has been amazing making new friends and getting to know all these new people. I am so glad I started playing volleyball in the first place.
Leah- This year it’s our eighth year and we are doing Middle school volleyball. This is our last year for middle school volleyball and then we play high school volleyball. I am a setter and I love setting. There are 17 people on the team. We’ve been playing since 7th grade at the middle school. We have won 6 games and lost one. We have our tournament coming up. I’ve been playing for a while now. I don’t even remember when I started but I started at the YMCA and then in 5th I started Matrix. Audrey and Nora are in the seventh grade team and they are the only ones from our school. I love our team we have all grown closer this year and we all have fun at all our games.
Cecilia- We are in eighth grade this year and we are doing yet another year of volleyball at the middle school. In the eighth grade class there are 9 of us doing it. We have all done it the previous year. There are only two people from the seventh grade class doing it Nora and Audrey. I have been volleyball since 6th grade and we are still playing. Next year when going to high school I won’t be playing volleyball anymore. I’ll most likely be doing cross-country and basketball which is my favorite sport. Volleyball has been such an amazing fun sport that I have gotten to experience with all these amazing people and amazing coaches.
