This Thursday, the eighth grade class held a tea party in the gym. This year, the girls have been reading Little Women, by Louisa May Alcott, and the boys have been reading Huck Finn, by Mark Twain. Both books take place in the mid 1800’s. We decided to host a tea party so that we could learn more about the difference in the culture between then and now. We learned about how people of the time were expected to act with manners and elegance at all times. Some class moms brought in fine china and lots of food, including: fruit, quiche, cupcakes, tea, scones, and croissants. We were taught table manners and proper eating etiquette from the time period. We all enjoyed trying new food and drinks (especially the tea)!
“Far away in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow where they lead”-Louisa May Alcott.
