Welcome, Father Dave!
September 14, 2022
St. Brendan School and Parish is excited to welcome Father Dave Viet (a.k.a. Father Dave). Father Dave started in July and came to us from Saint Vincent De Paul. The seventh and eighth graders at Saint Brendan School took it upon themselves to ask him several questions. Following are his answers:
- Father’s first parish was Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Columbia, Missouri. He served as a deacon and also a priest.
- Father’s favorite color, if pressured, is blue, but he doesn’t really have a favorite color.
- Lots of things inspired Father Viet to become a priest, but mostly he felt in his heart that he wanted to help people.
- Father Dave likes Saint Brendan’s really well. He was here for 6 weeks in the summer long ago in 1996 and he doesn’t really remember it.
- His response to the question of if he would like to have an animal in the parish is yes, but he’s not going to. Father Dave has had a pet, however. He had a cat and a yellow lab for a long time but doesn’t think he will have another dog because he doesn’t think he’ll have enough time to train it.
- We asked Father Dave what he thought about kids having a uniform and this was his response: He thinks they’re a good thing in general but not really his choice.
- Father has been a member of the Catholic Church for fifty (50) years, two (2) months, and ten (10) days.
- We asked him how his vacation was and he said: “My vacation was “Wonderfully Restful.”
- We asked him what was his favorite part in the Bible and he said: “Luke 23 when Jesus is dying.”
- We asked him how we get to Heaven and he said: “Receiving an invitation that Jesus gave us.”
- We asked him what sports he has done and he said: “I have participated in basketball.”
We did this interview on October the fourth in 2022.
